Are shock waves used to break up kidney stones that are already in the bladder?

Are shock waves used to break up kidney stones that are already in the bladder? I am confused by what the doctor is saying. She showed me the two stones in the bladder on the x-ray, but she has scheduled me for shock wave surgery to break the stones up, but all of the info I am reading is that the stones are broken up in the kidney. They are going to place a stent in me, but what for if the stones are already in the bladder?

No, stones in the bladder have already passed through the ureters, and the ureters are where they tend to get stuck.  So you need to get clarification about whether there are still stones that are causing blockage in the ureters.  The only stones that are a problem are those causing blockage.
