Burning in abdominal area on right side/burning and discomfort in penis/ burning in pubic area on right side.

Hi,

I'm a  20 year old student who has had quite a rough 4 months.  My problems all started when I had a severe toothache at the beginning of August.  I wanted the tooth extracted but my dentist and parents wanted to save it so I started taking pain medicines.  The specific medicine was Oxycodone.  I didn't take a ton of it but just enough to take the edge off.  During this time I also started taking antibiotics for the tooth.  I took the Oxycodone and Hydrocodone for a couple weeks and then stopped due to problems with the drug.  It was causing urinary retention and I was constipated for long periods of time (4-5 days).  About the third week of none stop antibiotics I started to have a very upset stomach.  So at this point I quit taking the antibiotic.  The pain I was feeling from the tooth was practically unbearable and I have a very high pain tolerance.  I wasn't sleeping much and just kept a heating pad on  the side of my face all day.  Obviously this caused a great deal of stress and anxiety.

A week or so passed and it was the first or second week or June.  The tooth had stabilized to some degree, and while extremely uncomfortable wasn't unbearable.  I decided to get back into my normal summer routine.  I played tennis, walked the dogs, etc...During the whole tooth ordeal I hadn't masturbated once.  This is important because I usually had about once every 3 days.  When I did for the first time ( only 3-5 mins) everything seemed fine at first until right before entering the shower.  I noticed a burning sensation at the tip or my penis but didn't think much of it.  My erection also didn't go down nearly as quickly as it had in the past.  While in the shower I started to experience an extremely intense burning feeling at the tip of the penis.  It was a terrible burning feeling and I felt like I needed to pee.  I went ahead and peed in the shower and it seemed to help a little bit.  The burning sensation continued for about 45 mins.  I drank tons of water and thought I might somehow have a UTI.  It's important to note that i've never had sex so its impossible for me to have an std of some kind.

I went to my PCP and explained what had happened.  They checked my urine and everything came back clear.  He said I might have prostatitis.  He gave me an antibiotic and I took it for a week.  At the end of the week nothing had changed.  Two weeks later I went to see a Urologist.  He did a prostate exam and decided that my prostate was inflamed.  He gave me another antibiotic and painkiller.  My stomach began to get upset again despite taking lots of probiotic pills.  A few more weeks went by and nothing changed.  So I went back and he decided that I might have scar tissue that had built up from a procedure I had done as an infant.  The urologist did a procedure in which he looked in the urethra and found no scar tissue.  About a week after the procedure I went to the beach and things took a turn for the worse.

About the second night at the beach I started having severe pain on my right side near the bellybutton.  It felt like a very sharp and strong pinch.  I thought I must have appendicitis so I went to the ER.  They did a CAT scan and said it looked like I was constipated.  I had an enema and the pain got better for about 30 minutes and then came back just like before.  I suffered through the next couple of days and then went to the Duke ER.  While at Duke they ran some tests and did another CAT Scan.  Nothing showed up on that one either.  I came home from the beach and had an MRI of my abdominal area.  Once again they couldn't find anything.  I had another MRI of my spine to see if I had a pinched nerve.  Nothing shower up there either.  My father is a radiologist so I know nothing is wrong in the images or he would have definitely seen it.

I went to another place to see if I could possibly have a sports hernia.  The doctor checked me out and didn't know for sure but thought that I probably didn't.  This whole time I'm having bad pain on the right side of my bellybutton, pain in the groin area and pain in the penis.  All on the right side.  I then went to have a VCU study done.  This study was excruciatingly painful.  The doctor was very good and had done thousands of these studies.  He noticed a narrowing of my urethra but thought that it wasn't important and wasn't very narrow.

Life went on for a few more weeks and nothing changed.  So I went to a GI doctor.  He performed a colonoscopy and said that my small intestine was spasming.  I was very relieved to hear that someone finally found something wrong.  He prescribed some medicine to take to stop the spasms.  I have taken the medicine and it has helped some but i'm still experiencing pain in the penis and groin area.  I finally had the tooth extracted (turns out it was cracked at the root) so I know it's not referred pain from the tooth.  I'm also still having pain around the bellybutton.

There are a few things that I've noticed that are probably very important to report.  The pain is completely gone in the morning when I wake up.  I feel 100% normal in the morning.  If I get out of bed and start to walk around the pain comes back more and more.  The pain also seems to be better after I have a bowel movement or urinate.  It seems as if i sit in a chair and lean forward the pain increases.  I have also had some acid reflux but not heartburn.     The pain on my right side/ groin area is a burny kind of pain.  The pain around the bellybutton feels like a sharp/dull pinch depending upon how badly its hurting.  The pain in the penis is more of a shooting pain.  My stomach has also made lots of weird gurgling noises lately.  I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

I'm just incredibly frustrated and want nothing more than to be pain free.  This problem has been so debilitating that iv'e taken a semester off from college to get well.  If you have any idea at all, or have experienced anything like this please let me know.  Any advice is greatly appreciated.  I just don't know if this is a GI, Nervous, or Urological problem.
