Hydrocele repair

Hello,
I've been recommended by my urologist to fix the hydrocele 6 months ago, and I have finally decided to do it. But I am also suspicious that I have hernia on the same side (I have heard tearing sound few years ago while exercising, don't have any symptoms tho). My urologist didn't even evuluate me for that, and honestly I am not prepared to have hernia surgery anyway (I hope hydrocele surgery is a bit easier to recover?).
I was wondering, is it pointless to repair the hydrocele only if I have hernia on the same side? It is causing me some discomfort and problems, and I want to have it fixed.
