Sorry, I misunderstood your post.
First you said when you go swimming you get an infection or something goes wrong, then you say you haven't been swimming or had an infection since you got the Suprapubic Catheter (very good!), so I'm confused and wondering...what is your question exactly?
Hi Mandy and welcome...
My husband has had a Suprapubic Catheter for four years, too. That's an open wound (so to speak) which is why you're getting an infection. I wouldn't go swimming or submerge that area, again.
After swimming for so long, I understand how you would miss it. My husband used to go to Catalina every year and go diving. He, too, misses that terribly, but is unwilling to take a chance at submersion, and while we don't know for sure, it's only seems logical he would get an infection.
This would be an excellent question for your Urologist. We should ask, too, I don't know why we haven't??
