Incomplete emptying?

I am a 25 yr old male and have been suffering from some sort of voiding dysfunction for the past year+. After urinating, I never feel as if my bladder is completely empty. There is no sense of urgency, just a feeling that there is urine still left in my bladder. Normally, I ignore the feeling and wait for it to masked by the filling of my bladder, but sometimes it is so annoying that I force myself to urinate again. This second time produces much less fluid and takes longer but still does not give me satisfaction. To get out that last quirt, I have to reach under my penis and put pressure on the urethra at the base of my scrotum. Also, the symptoms are worse after a bowel movement - I feel as if I could push/release urine all day - after a while, I give up. I am not bothered by it during sleep.

It seemed to have started after I held a full bladder overnight after a night of drinking.

When this began, I had a full panel STD test, all negative. I have also had two tests for gon/chl since, all negative. I have been seeing the uro for about a year and he has tested my urine and prostate secretions - negative. I have taken several antibiotics and anti-spasmodics with no success. A cystoscopy indicated that my bladder neck was red, but uro doesn't see this is as a cause. However, this seems to be a very important clue to me.

I have a degenerated disc in L4/L5. I have also been seing a GI for strange coloration of stool (an upper and lower endoscopy was negative). Could there be a correlation with either?

I am having a urodynamic test on Monday with my urologist. However, I fear that I might be spinning my wheels with him, and that I should be seeing someone with much more focus in this discipline. Do you have any suggestions?

I just had the urodynamic test. The urologist who performed the test said I have low flow at high bladder pressure, which would indicate an obstruction. My normal uro, the one who performed the cystoscopy, did not find an obstruction (but I don't think he was looking for one, and he seems to be ignoring the redness he saw on my bladder neck...). Anyway, doc gave me a 30 day sample of uroxatral.. if that doesn't work, he'll mix it up with some other medications. If meds don't work, I've read about possible surgery to open the bladder neck.

I don't have a flank pain as you describe..

I have also had the problem where "To get out that last quirt, I have to reach under my penis and put pressure on the urethra at the base of my scrotum." I do this, because sometimes when I think I'm done, and a put everything away, and the angle changes it will sometimes leak (can be quite embarrassing). I am 23 yrs old and urinate frequently when I drink (every 5-15 minutes). I also posted about having a reoccurring mild/dull flank pain on the right side.
