Please HELP - is it possible this is all due to hernia

Hi,

I am so desperate for help, my life has been absolutely horrible for almost a year now. In June/July 2007 I started having testicle pain as well as penis pain and burning and increased urinary frequency with burning. My doctor diagnosed prostatitis and gave me antibiotics. About a week into taking the antibiotics I felt a tearing and gurgle feeling right at the sight/scar area of a previous(about3-4 yrs ago) hernia surgery. I went back doctor complaining of puffiness and pain in that area and she said there was a hernia and sent me to surgeon (was the same surgeon who did the previous hernia repair) and he said there was no hernia. I was then sent to urologist who said postatitis, gave me flomax and said to alter diet to avoid acidic drinks/foods. After 6 weeks of flomax and eating a bland diet there was still no improvement. Went to another urologist who said prostatitis, gave me flomax and new antibiotics and prescribed 600mg ibuprofen 3 x day. There was no improvment after 8 weeks and he then said I probably had Interstitual Cystitis and did a cysto with hydrodistension to confirm and he did confirm that was his diagnoses. I was put on Elmiron, Elavil, Urelle and told to follow IC diet which I had already been doing since beginning. So now hear I am with still no improvement and besides the testicle pain and urinary symptoms I have all along been complaining about the previously fixed hernia area which is sore, puffy and shoots pain if lifting or coughing. Neither urologist would even look at, examine or even consider the hernia area even though I asked over and over - one just ignored me and the other basically said that I would not have the pain and burning urinary symptoms if it were a hernia.

Now the area where the hernia surgery was done is a bit more puffy and I can push it and cause direct testicle pain upon doing so. I also did some searches and found that it is possible that bladder can be in the hernia or herniated and cause urinary symptoms. Is it possible that my problems are due to a new hernia in same location (inguinal area right side) of first hernia - like an incisional hernia and maybe bladder is involved?

Note: my hernia surgery was open type with no mesh used.

Iam going through the same and have been since 2005.x-rays,cat scans, three different doctors and waiting fo number four doctor to make appointment. He is supposed to shoot me with water and alcohol in the inguinal tube to supposedly kill that nerve? wished I had my hernia back and that doctor had that mesh mess sewn to his nuts! Note this sewing or stiching the inguinal tube happens to about 1 out 1000 times per mesh operation, only to make life hell for a long time for the few. Hope you find relief soon.hanson,g
