Swollen Penile Vein...maybe

I woke up this morning and found a swollen vein (I'm guessing) on the right side of the shaft, just below the head. It's probably an inch or so long and a quarter inch wide. And I know it wasn't there the night before.

The night before there was some fooling around with a female, however there was no sex (no oral sex either). I didn't notice any out of the ordinary at the time, but there may have been some strenuous masturbation.

As for the swollen vein(?). There's no pain. No discharge. It feels a little hard when flaccid and when erect it seems very hard. My lymph nodes don't feel swollen.

Any help? What may it be and what could have caused it? What steps should I take if it's a thromboses vein?

Hi, I have somewhat the same problems, swelling just below the head on my shaft but it doesnt hurt. It just itches alot. I havent had sexual contact in quite sometime and this just appeard around 2 days ago while I was reading my book. I woke up the next morning with this unusually large and rather itchy lump on my shaft.
Can someone help me on this or offer some advice on what it could be?

Hi

To ease your mind, have a penile ultrasound done just to rule out any blood clots which may impede viable blood flow causing this swelling. A varicosity is still likely here however, the cause of this has to be determined. This does not require immediate intervention but this may need evaluation. Try to elevate the penis while lying down .This will help alleviate the swelling. Continue to observe if the swelling persists. If it does ,then have this assessed by your urologist.

Thanks Vanessa.

It is defiantly recent in onset. I mean, as in over night...a matter of hours and it was there. It's been almost 24 hours now since I first discovered it and the vein seems softer or perhaps smaller. The skin around it however seems puffy. Still no redness, no pain.

Hi

This sounds like a varicosity. I do not think this needs immediate intervention. However, if this appears to be recent in onset and if there are swelling and pain, a penile ultrasound may be able to help. Venous thrombosis may present with redness and pain which does not seem to be your case. Continue to observe the condition. At this point, a penile ultrasound may suffice.
