Hello,
What you are having is called hematuria( blood in urine). Causes can be divided according to the affected organ and they are Kidney conditions (infection, pyelonephritis, kidney stones, polycystic kidney disease), Bladder conditions (cystitis, bladder polyp, bladder tumor), Urethral conditions (Sexually transmitted diseases, urethral injury) and certain bleeding disorders. When the blood in the urine is at the beginning of urination, it most likely comes from the urethra, (the tube from the bladder to the outside). Blood throughout urination is most likely from the bladder or kidneys or ureters (the tubes connecting the kidneys and the bladder).
I feel that without clinical examination, pinpointing a diagnosis is tough. Also a complete urine examination and culture may be required. Please consult a urologist for confirming the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
"KNOCK tissue loose"... sorry.
I wrote 'know tissue loose'. I need to re-read my posts PRIOR to hitting "POST COMMENT"!!!
Hey there... sorry, I guess I didn't see your post, or I'd have responded.
What you're describing could be a number of things (UTI, bladder-infection, renal-lesion, kidney-stone), but as you have a history of kidney-stone formation, I'd tend to lean in that direction.
When a kidney-stone hits the wall of the kidney, it sometimes will 'know tissue loose', and when you urinate, it'll be included in your urination. Once the tissue has passed, it's fairly common for there to be residual blood, causing your urine to be pinkish in color.
My bet would be on a kidney-stone bouncing around in one of your kidney's. Do you have discomfort or pain in either of your flanks (lower back pain)? If not, that's not necessarily a sign that it's not a kidney-stone. I've quite often had kidney-stones that have caused no flank-pain whatsoever.
Book an appointment with your urologist, tell him/her what's going on, and have them give you a CT-scan. Honestly, a CT or an ultrasound are the only definitive tests they can perform that can rulle out or confirm the presence of a kidney-stone. An x-ray/KUB can be performed, but depending on what the makeup of the stone is, it may or may not show up (some stones don't show up on x-ray).
Post back and let us know how it turns out.
Hi, I posted a few days ago that after passing a stone(I think-though there was little pain), a little blood had appeared at the end of each urination. I called a pharmacist friend and he told me to see a doctor if the blood didnt stop appearing in a few days. It did indeed stop and my urine looks normal (it looked normal before except at the end of the urination for a few days). Does anyone have an idea if this is normal? I am not feeling any pain anywhere else. Please advise.
