Desperate for Answers about Testicular Pain

I am at the end of my rope with an ambiguous testicular problem about which I have received no answers or even any kind of sketchy understanding. Let me preface my explanation by saying that I have been seen by a number of doctors, including a urologist, and I've just gotten the runaround, shrug-and-eyebrow-raise treatment I've come to expect from HMO's.

I don't remember exactly how long ago, probably almost a year, I was engaged in a particularly protracted session of masturbation, somewhere around twenty minutes or half an hour (it's stupid, but it didn't occur to me that this could injure me) when all of a sudden I felt like somebody had struck me hard in the left testicle. The pain was crippling and took a few minutes to subside. The pain has never fully gone away, centered in my left testicle, radiating up into my pelvis, up my left side and sometimes even into my left leg and left arm. The pain is exacerbated by masturbation but even in "quiet" periods of up to two weeks' abstinence, it never heals.

I had a sonogram done and it showed that I had epidydimal cysts on the testicle, though the urologist said they had nothing to do with the pain (which I still find highly specious). His solution was to throw some anti-inflammatories at me and then to inject some numbing agent on either side of the spermatocord. This didn't work.

Before I drop some dime on a private urologist who can tell me something useful, I'd like to see if anyone has ANY idea what is going on because the constant pain is seriously disrupting my entire life and I've reached the breaking point of frustration.

Thanks,
Matt

I hate to discourage you but one urologist told me that he sees a few patients ever day for test. pain and most often they find no cause, including myself.

They say to keep testicles in warm water a few times a day for like 10-20 minutes etc but its no use.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

A sudden or abrubt pain which may be sharp or stabbing in character may suggest that what you are experiencing is probably nerve related. At this point, I would agree with your physician that the incidental findings of your epididymal cysts may not be the actual cause of your symptoms. You may have pulled a muscle or irritated a nerve when manipulating the testicles. These symptoms may suggest something musculoskeletal or nerve related in origin. You may discuss with your physician if a scan of the lumbosacral spine may help just to rule out nerve impingement or irritation caused by a spine disorder.A tense muscle in the area may also contribute to the symptoms.

For how long have you taken the medications? I suggest that you continue taking the antiinflammatry agents and see if any improvement takes place.A visit to a physical therapist or an acupuncturist will also help. At this point,my primary differentials are a neuralgia or musculoskeletal pain.
