teenage bedwetting

My daughter whom will be turning 13 years old soon is still bed wetting. I have took her to the doctors, she prescribed mas been taking  which she has been on for a year now. No improvement! When I first took her in, I was concerned because of the large amounts and the very strong odor it causes along with inflammation to the surrounding skin. All urine test came back fine ( urine sample). However she had no reason why the odor was so bad. I even had our well water tested and it was fine.  Can you help me in figuring out what going on and where I can lead my daughter doctor in the right direction to solve this problem she is having.

Hello,
You can talk to your GP politely but firmly and ask for a urology reference as the child is not befitting a lot and hence other urological causes after a through urological examination should be ruled out. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.

She has went to bed for the last year without drinking anything 1.5 hours before bedtime and was put on desmopressin .2mg nightly over the last year with no success. Her primary doctor added another medication and said to check back in 3 months. Her primary physician said that we should hold back on going to see a urologist. I was wondering if you can give me advise in what to do. HOW do you go about taking to your doctor and demanding a referral to a a specialist as a urologist with out being mean?

Hello,
This wetting of bed is called adult urinary incontinence. It can be due to overtaking the fluids at night, urge incontinence, inappropriate bladder contractions, constipation, infection ,a stone in the bladder, post menopause( due to thinning of tissue due to decreased estrogen) and use of diuretics ("water pills").If it is the first episode of bed wetting then you should go to bed without a full bladder. But if the repeat happens, then please get it evaluated from a urologist.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
