Vitamin D deficiency

Hi. A couple months ago my doctor checked my vitamin D level and told me it was 20 and that it was low so I should start taking vitamin D. Since then I've been taking 1000mgs on and off sometimes on for 2 weeks then off for 3 weeks....well I keep getting infections like sinusitis, I've had a UTI, tonsillitis, and now the stomach flu... I also have random pain on my body but lately mostly my left arm has been hurting and I've also had palpitations... Could this be due to low vitamin D levels? Also, how long would it take for my vitamin level to get up to normal if I take 1000mgs a day. Oh and I'm 25yrs old... Idk if that would help... Thanks!!!

Also they've done urine tests, blood tests, gallbladder/pancreas/kidney ultrasounds, & ekg's and everything has come back normal except for my vitamin D.

My D was 20. My Endo said it was very low and told me to take 10,000 iu  of D-3 daily. I take 5,000 twice because taking 10,000 at a time burns my stomach.

Thanks... Believe it or not that does bring some relief to me. Now I know that I have to be more consistent and definitely more patient! I do plan on going back to my doctor to have my other vitamin levels checked and ask him what strength of vitamin D I should take since honestly he never told me how much I should take.

You might want to look into going to an Endocrinologist. Mine put me on Vitamin D3 100, 000 IC per week so I take 2 - 50,000 IC pills per week. From what I have read if you are at 20 then taking 1000Mgs is not really going to do anything. Body aches, and Palpitations have been a few things that people complain about when lacking D. You need to be consistent if you are going to get your numbers up and I have heard it can take 3 months to a year to start feeling better.
