Can't Gain Weight

Sorry don't know if I am in the right place but had a few questions. My problem is that I can't gain weight like I used too. I been on a lot of antibiotics last month. I must have taken them for almost a months worth but anyway I been off of it for about a month now and ever since then I am having trouble gaining weight. Is this normal? Did anyone ever have this happen to them before? It's kinda scary and causing my anxiety to come out and that doesn't help my appetite either I'm sure. Anyone have any stories similar to mine or if anyone could point me into the right direction forum wise, that would be great too. Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

many antibiotics can change the metabolism and tenancy of the body. I think doctor can diagnose the problem. It would be useful if your research on side effects of antibiotics you have taken. One school of thought maintains that there are enough probitics in the food we take where as other  says one should take pro-biotic as it is not produced by body.As it is not harmful and as it is not too expensive one can take routinely.I know it is not a satisfactory reply. If I find anything better, I will inform you.

its weird because before all the antibiotics happened, it was a whole lot harder to lose weight. now, if i want to, i can lose weight no problem. the way my body is behaving nowadays, i can lose weight too easily it scares me. its the gaining weight that i am having problems with now. i used to be able to gain weight if i wanted to but i used to hold back on eating a little sometimes to keep my weight where i wanted it. now i feel like i can eat everything i want and my weight still doesn't go up much. i noticed my appetite isn't quite where it used to be either though so that's probably what's causing it. could this be STD/virus related?

Our digestive system normally has what we would call "good" bacteria and "bad" bacteria. Maintaining the correct balance between the "good" bacteria and the "bad" bacteria is necessary for optimal health. Things like medications, diet, diseases, and your environment can upset that balance. Is your body able to handle this on its own or do you need to start including probiotics in your diet? This article will help you decide
Research probiotic to know which other food, has pro biotic and include them in your diet.
There are many other factors which can affect digestive system specially when we are taking food contaminated by pesticide and fertilizers. If we add some yogic exercises, we can maintain our digestive system.Google Agnisar kriya and do this technique after defecation. This is a technique one can do In the toilet-seat  itself. it will take hardly one or two minutes. I have practiced  this technique for 30 years regularly without missing a day. This is a stand alone technique, you can add child pose and pawanmuktasan.Google each word to get to their respective website.

so i can stop eventually. sorry i dont really enjoy yogurt that much. im just eating it to get back on track. so to answer my question, since eating yogurt puts good bacteria back into the body, does that mean the good bacteria will begin to grow back independently without any probiotic pills or foods like yogurt.

To answer your question, if you continue to take antibiotics you will have to keep up the probiotics or live-culture yoghurt. The antibiotic continues to kill them. If you've stopped the antibiotic, try to eat yoghurt once every day or two of a week or so just to help, then you can stop, but I wouldn't because yoghurt is great for you and yummy too :)

thank you Barb. i have looked into probiotics and took one for only two days then stopped because it seemed to make me feel bloated and worsen my appetite which could have all been in the mind. so i switched to yogurt. seems to be ok so far.

i have a question about the good bacteria. all these probiotics and foods with probiotics like yogurt for example. if they put the good bacteria back in my body, why would i have to keep taking it or eating it because shouldn't the bacteria grow again. so by taking these pills or eating these foods, shouldn't it be like planting a seed? then from there it will grow back into the right amount of good bacteria my body needs and i won't have to take the pills or eat the foods with live cultures anymore?

Antibiotics are not specific about which bacteria they kill; they don't just kill the bad ones.  If you were on antibiotics for an entire month, it's possible that they killed the "good" bacteria in your gut...... those are the ones you need for good digestion and absorption of your food.

You might talk to your doctor and see if taking a probiotic might help replace those good bacteria.  You also probably need to add more calories than you're eating.
