Christmas candy

I just wanted to comment to any fellow candy cane lovers out there.  The small candy canes are only 15 calories.  I am going to put four candy canes in my purse, and four on the end table near where I sit on the couch, every morning.  Only 120 calories! Christmas candy is such a weakness for me. Every year one of my personel traditions is to buy one of the chocolate orange balls, I can't remember what they are called, but they are the ones you hit on a hard surface and they break apart into slices simular to an orange. I also love, love, love the chocolate covered cordial cherries, they are probably the highest calorie candy in the world. I had a hard time not buying some for myself when I was out Christmas shopping the other day. Yikes! I think I am craving chocolate now.  I think the old fashioned ribbon candy probably have calories comparatively the same as candy canes, I think I will buy some.  I can't be perfect during the holiday season, but maybe some lower calorie candy in the house may be a good idea so I don't eat the higher calorie ones. Does anyone else know of some "reasonably" lower calorie Christmas candy?

I think it's a great idea if you stick with it. I can't stick to plans like this because I'm a compulsive eater.

I would say that if you do this you need to make sure the rest of your day is packed with nutrient rich foods. And I would stay away from any other kinds of sweets like, sugar in your coffee, jam or jelly, any simple carb and stuff like that.

Merry Christmas!

Candy is candy, and none of it will be good for you; you could try opting for sugar free candies, but just because they are sugar free, don't think you can eat all you want, because they still have calories.

Regarding the candy canes - why not try replacing them with an apple?  An apple has only 80-90 calories, plus tons of nutrients and fiber, whereas the candy canes are pure sugar, which means you would be getting 120 *empty* calories, as are the other candies you mentioned.  Or if you really "need" the peppermint flavor, have a cup of hot peppermint tea, sweetened with honey or stevia, instead.

You have to do what is best for you; don't do it for anyone else.
