The only thing I'd add to what CanDoThis said is that you should all make sure you don't have any medical conditions, such as hypothyroidism, that can cause weight loss to be more difficult, if not impossible.
Hi, I'm more-less new too. my goal is 33 Ibs. I wish you all (and myself) good luck.
As for the tips, the best start really are those standard boring things: to eat smaller portions (it's the best to count calories), drink a lot of water (no juices, water is healthier) and to EXERCISE (there's to need for a killing gym treatments, a simple half an hour walk per day would do for a start).
I think the most important thing is to always keep your motivation near and to never give up.

Trying to learn how to use this app. I am starting today too, trying to lose 100 lbs but health is my first goal.
