I'm a Newbie

I'm a newbie to the site and would love to do WW on my own but,I need support. I am on a budget and we don't always have the money to go out and buy alot of food but,I want to loose this weight once and for all. does anyone know of anything that would help me. I'm on a tight budget being a stay at home mom. I've lost about 10 lbs in the last month just by walking.

Hello I am back haven't used this site in a long time. I have had two children since I have last been on this website. I have gained more weight of course since having children. I feel that the only way I seem to loose weight is to track everything religiously. I had to have Gall bladder surgery about 6 weeks ago and am doing pretty well I have lost about 10 lbs since surgery with no bein able to eat fatty or greasy foods.

Welcome!  Congratulations on that 10 pounds!  That's awesome work.  ; )  Definitely keep with the walking, it will continue to help a great deal.  Also, sounds like some great advice from Raven.  Tight budgets can be tough, but if you consider the high cost of food that is not nutritious and compare it to items that are, as well as changing the portion sizes, I believe that you will be pleasantly surprised.  The best of luck to you on your continued journey.  Make sure to keep right on coming back to see us and we will help to support you in any way that we can.

walking everywhere is a good start (plus it saves money since you dont have to pay for petrol or bus fare). Eating loads of fruit & veg is another good thing (you can usually get seasonal veg quite cheap). Reduce your fat content (by buying things like lean bacon or extra-lean beef mince). Chicken breast is a good, filling low fat thing to try (I eat chicken practically every day!) as an alternative to fattier meats. Carefully measure your portion sizes - you shouldnt really be eating more than about 60g of rice or pasta per portion for example. You'll find that monitoring your portion sizes and eating more veg instead of meat & will save you money! You can also do simple things like buy diet drinks instead of regular, buy skimmed milk instead of fullfat milk, buy low fat spread instead of butter & use sweetener in your tea or coffee instead of sugar. The basic tip is if you can get a version of the foods you like that has less saturated fat and calories get it instead! You shouldnt really find that you end up spending more money since most stores do an own-brand low fat version of many products. Good luck & keep walking! x
