If you can tell me how tall you are, your current weight, your current activity level and how much you want to lose, I'll try to help you come up with the number of calories you need daily. We can go from there........
Or you can implement the food diary here on med help (recommended) and it will tell you the number of calories you need daily to maintain your current weight. You would then need to plan to eat LESS than that amount to lose. The food diary will also help you keep track of what you are eating and if you fill it out completely and honestly, it will show you some foods you might need to eliminate or eat less of and/or show areas that you might need to increase.
To start with, I'd suggest that if you drink sodas, replace them with water. If you eat white bread, replace it with whole grains, etc.
Walking is always a good exercise to start with. It's recommended that you walk 30 minutes/day, but if you don't have time for that, try 3 sessions of 10 minutes each. It's also helpful to wear a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps/day.
There are also a lot of videos that you can watch and exercise with -- you can do a search to find ones that interest you. The trick with exercising is find something that you really enjoy doing, so you will stick with it. MY favorite is yoga.
Hi Barb !
Thanks for your feedback. Then can you please advice what kind of exercise, frequency or food intake to increase one's metabolic rate because i understand that once you get older the metabolic rate slows down.
Thanks and have a nice day.
We advocate weight loss using a sensible diet and moderate exercise, not diet aids such as you are asking about.
