OytheGreat gave you excellent advice...... if you constantly feel deprived, eventually, you will end up binging, so best to give in "moderately" to the cravings, then don't feel guilty. AND most likely, the weight you gained is fluid, since it's "that time"....
Look at it this way -- if *I* go whacko and start eating everything in sight, gaining tons and tons (exaggerated, of course), you would be sympathetic with me and tell me not to worry, I can get back on track, etc.........It took me a long time to "get it", but I finally learned that you must be able to do the same thing for yourself that you would do for another.
Hang in there; you can do this........
Whenever I feel like you, I have been trying to drink water with crystal light. Water has been making me feel a lot fuller and sometimes you aren't really hungry but when I am over water and I am still hungry I reach for what will satisfy me....sf jello, nuts, I have been on this kick with grapefruit and I sprinkle stevia on it its so yummy and grapefruit helps burn fat! I also eat some deli meat with low fat cheese. The weight watchers (like laughing cow cheese) is sooooo yummy! Good Luck and remember you aren't alone!
Thanks very much for your comment, it's been a big help. I'm watching what i'm eating the rest of the week and starting writing everything down again from next week, i also need to get back into the exercise again which i've been really lazy about.
My mum has lost 8lbs in 2weeks which i'm happy for her but it made me re-think how badly i'm doing and i need to lose it for more reasons than what my mum does. so i was a little upset last night.
I think the 2lbs may be water retention as i always feel bigger when my monthlys are due. I'm going to try the nut thing as i've never tried that. Thanks again for the advice much appreciated :) can i ask how much you have lost in weight and over what length of time? sorry if that sounds cheeky i'd just like to get an idea
This is gonna throw you for a curve ball, but I say indulge in those cravings. But do it in moderation if you can. :)
If you can avoid overeating, great! If not, then don't sweat it too much. I mean, don't punish yourself if you eat something "naughty." Instead, consider it therapy and move on. Also, keep a stash of dark chocolate tucked away for an emergency situation like this, maybe some whole wheat chips or nuts for those salty cravings.
I usually have a day or two of craziness during my cycle, but if I can stay on the straight and narrow the other 28 days of the month, I feel okay.
Don't feel too guilty about it. I think guilt is one of the biggest problems we face when it comes to successful weight loss. If you can't forgive yourself for doing what feels good and natural to do--like eating food that tastes good--then you're setting yourself to too high of a standard.
It's so much easier to motivate yourself if you don't feel like a failure, so all the guilt needs to be tossed aside.
As for the 2 lbs of weight gain, are you sure it's not water retention? Once all the emotions and feelings are gone, try getting back on track. You may drop those 2 lbs faster than you imagine. You may drop more on top of that. Good luck!
