Sunday Weigh In - April 6, 2014

Good morning!!  How are we all doing this morning.

I'm doing great - just got back from a 2.5 mile walk.  I've logged 7200+ steps on my Fitbit this morning, so I should meet my goal of 10,000 steps without too much trouble, today.  I've been doing pretty well with my eating, as well as having gone for at least a 2 mile walk, all but one day last week, and even that day, I got in over 10,000 steps, because I was on the go all day.

For all my effort, I do get to claim a 0.4 lb loss.  Not much, but it's going the right direction.

I'm working on some new changes, that will take some time to get used to.  I know I always eat too fast, so my brain doesn't have time to get the signal that I'm full.  I'm trying to make an effort to slow down my eating, which means chewing my food more thoroughly, laying my fork down between bites, etc.  I'm also trying to get used to the idea that I can be satisfied with less food.  I'm trying to stop eating, just when I'm no longer hungry, rather eating until I'm full.  I do have some absorption issues, so it seems to take longer for me to get the "full" signal.  if I eat until I'm full, I've overeaten.  These are 2 habits that are hard to change, so it's going to take a lot of perseverance.

So -- that's me.  How's everyone else doing?  Were you able to meet your goal this week?  If so, congratulations!!  You deserve a pat on the back.  If you didn't reach the goal of losing one pound, is there some way we can help you reach it this week.  Remember, we're all here to help motivate and support each other, so let us know how we can help.

Remember:  we all win, by losing -- weight!!

Best wishes to all for a wonderful, successful week...

Hi Barb,

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll try tortilla. I already tried cabbage earlier with my meat. I stir fried it though. It tastes real good. I think I'll keep it up until I can buy brown rice. I'll definitely work on my eating speed. Good luck to all for next week!

I lost one kg this week. Had loads of gardening to do. Planting my seeds so I can make my own salads and roasts  with my tasty vegies.
Sadly the seed planting is finished, weather is rainy and cold, not much hope for happy biking to lose more weight. I wanted to lose 1,5 kg last week. Well 1 kg is better then nothing :) im happy with that too.

I don't eat, if I'm not hungry either and from what I've been reading, skipping a meal isn't so horrible, as long as you don't overdo at the next meal.

Sometimes we just have to sit in a holding/maintaining pattern until we can get back on track and move forward again.

I hope you're feeling better now and that the coming week will be easier for you.

Looks like everyone had a great week.  Great job everyone!!!  Keep it up!  I maintained.  I'm fine with that.  I was really afraid I was going to fain because I was sick and barly eating.  This week was bad.  I just wasn't into my good foods.  I wasn't into bad foods either.  It was portion control was my big issue.  Skipping my lunch too.  If I'm not hungry I don't eat.

Here is to me trying better this week.

Wow - looks like everyone has done a great job of staying on track, this week.  Congratulations!!

Maicap22 - we're going to have to work on our eating speed.  Like you, I sometimes eat so fast, I hardly feel like I've eaten.  This not only causes me to eat too much, it's unhealthy.

I use brown rice all the time; my store brand is only a few cents higher than white rice.   Cabbage is good with some meats.

As for the bread... try cutting back to eating it only once/day.  I usually only eat bread in the morning in the form of toast, but occasionally, I'll have a sandwich for lunch or dinner... I try not to do that if I've already eaten bread once in the day.  Have you tried making sandwiches with whole grain, or corn, tortillas?  It's really good.. just load the ingredients and roll it up. I like tuna salad on tortilla.

Hi all! Like Barb, I still eat really fast. I try to slow down though if I remember. Most of the times, I forget about it. I do like to enjoy the food I'm eating so I'm still trying. I eat so fast that sometimes it didn't even feel like I eat anything.

I don't have any problem stopping when I don't feel hungry at all even if I still don't feel full, except when I really crave something. I am counting calories every meal so I know when to stop.

I want to kind of get rid of my bread addiction. And yeah, not the whole wheat type. I even love those with fillings. I at least control the portions now. It feels like I consume large amount of calories on bread alone. Not to mention I eat white rice with meats. Brown rice is just more expensive. I am looking for alternative though like maybe cabbage or lettuce with meats. I'll try if I'll like the taste. I also have this habit of eating dry powder milk mixed with just drops of water till dough consistency..where I put a little cocoa or sugar or margarine sometimes. I indulge on it at least twice a week. Its kind of hard to stop especially when I really crave for it.

I tried imitating walk videos on youtube as I've seen Barb suggested for other users. I love it. I feel like it helped a lot this week where I kind of overate a couple of times. My calorie budget had gotten smaller since losing weight so sometomes it's easy to go over the limit.

In the end, I still shed off 1.5 lbs.
