Will ladies I finally got pregnant, now for a good diet while pregnant

I wanted to let you ladies know that I finally got pregnant. I have been eating well still and found I really like the taste of tomatoes right now. I have been trying to eat a balanced diet with out any added sugar, salt or simple carbs.

I'm not allowed to gain any weight with this pregnancy so the balanced diet is so important.

I have an appt with WIC where they will talk about healthy eating during my pregnancy and even help with the cost of healthy foods.

I'm down to 323 according to dr scale on 04/08/10 during my intake exam for OB, but they want me to not gain a pound. So I need support from you ladies to keep me on track.

I am walking 15-25 min a day. Dr's orders.

Hey Barb since I live in town I walk all day, I walk to the post office, the grocery store, the dollar store, 7-11, around the block, so walking 15 mins 2-3 times a day is not hard for me. Just pray they don't put me on bed rest, I will lose it if they tell me to lay around all day.

Well, it sounds like WIC will keep you well fed; it will be up to you to keep you well exercised!!  15 minutes 2-3 times/day would be great.  You don't have to go fast - just at a clip that you help you use calories.

Take care...

Dr said walking or bike riding at least 15 mins a day but not to over due it cause I'm high risk, Wic now gives fresh fruit and veggies, 100% whole wheat bread, eggs, cheese, beans, juice which I plan to drink cranberry juice each day to stay away from the bladder infections.

Congratulations -- am thrilled to hear your news.

Yes, a healthy diet is very important in order to make sure that both you and your baby get the proper nutrients. I'm sure your meeting with WIC will be a good one.

Make sure you eat plenty of fresh fruits and veggies; if WIC will help pay for it, that shouldn't be too hard.  I'd suggest that you try sticking with more veggies, though as fruits tend to have a lot more sugar; even though it's natural sugar.

Also make sure you get enough servings of low/no fat dairy, lean meats, eggs, etc.

Are you only allowed to exercise/walk for 15 minutes each day?  Maybe you could try walking for 15 minutes, 2-3 times/day.  You might also check with your doctor to see if there are other types of exercise you can do.

I'd also suggest that you begin a food diary to help you keep track of the number of calories you are taking in each day.  By recording every bite/sip that passes your lips, you will be able to see where you might need to cut back or increase intake.

Best of luck.  We'll be here...........

Thanks elaine1961, they asked me to quit drinking caffine and I said well I have not had any in over a yr and the nurse said you might be easy to deal with. I'm nervous about keeping my weight under control since i'm not allowed to gain weight.
