Of course, parasites could be an issue, but they are much less prevalent than either Graves or diabetes....... every option should always be checked out, though, and parasites are certainly one.

Accidental ingestion of a parasite that live in the colon. Many times patients will loose weight spite eating more. It steals the nutrients from the host bc much of thee nutrients we get from food is absorbed in the colon. hope this might b a simple answer
You might want to have your boyfriend get tested for Graves Disease/hyperthyroidism, which causes fast weight loss. Have him get tested for TSH, Free T3 and Free T4, along with antibodies, TSI.
Diabetes is another condition that often causes weight loss.
