There are medical issues that can cause you to gain/be unable to lose weight -- these include hypothyroidism and insulin resistance, among others.
I'd suggest that you get your thyroid tested, as well as your blood sugars...... just so you know, I have both of these issues, so recognize the signs.........
I joke for my 40th birthday I got a hysterectomy and the weight I have gained sense has been out of control. I am on estradoil which is what I believe to be the issue, I retain water, am constipated, constantly stuff up, some hot flashes and night sweats even though we have gone up on the medication twice and mind...what mind. I have attempted the gym, kepts logs of what I eat, tried over the counter diet pills but currently am almost 50lbs over weight. (prior to my hysterectomy was at a normal weight). When I bring up to my doctor she states that it has nothing to do with my hysterectomy, I have been tested for thyroid and it is at normal levels. Does anyone have any ideas, at this point I do not know what else to do.
I'd like to see actual thyroid levels - that's TSH, Free T3 and Free T4; sounds like you might have a thyroid issue, but if your doctor is only testing TSH, you aren't getting the full picture. Also get checked for insulin resistance; that can cause weight gain/inability to lose......
