Sad to say that gained weight very rarely "just goes away". twehner5 gave you very sound advice.
The only thing I would add is to ask if you have been checked by your doctor to make sure you don't have any underlying medical issues that might cause weight gain/inability to lose, such as hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, etc. I have hypothyroidism and although losing the 30 pounds I put on because of it has been a nightmare, I'm hoping that I will get my levels balanced soon and be able to lose some weight (I recently managed to lose a couple of pounds).
Good luck and please stick around and keep posting.
Hi. Weight loss IS so frustrating, isn't it? The rule of thumb is to burn off more than you take in... Well, in order to do that, you'd have to know how many calories you are eating. Have you written down a food journal? These are GREAT weight-loss tools. I find that I am MUCH LESS likely to eat wrong if I know that I will be writing down EVERYTHING that I put into my mouth. AND, I find that I also like making BETTER food choices - it looks better on paper (even though I'm the only one who will be seeing it).
As far as working out - find something that you like. You are far more likely to keep it up for the long haul if you enjoy it. AND, maybe find a partner. Someone who is just as committed as you are. That way you can both keep each other accountable - you will let the other one down if you don't show up... BUT, make sure that you will go even if your partner won't/doesn't - this is YOUR exercise - you only have yourself to blame!
Your goal is to lose 1-2 pounds/week. You will have a better chance of keeping it off if you lose at that rate.
Good luck! I hope you stick around the weight loss & dieting forum...
