Why does my clitoris itch?

It's been itching for about a year now and I've been to embarrassed to tell my mom about it. I'm a virgin so it can't be any STDs. My mom has external vulvar cream that's supposed to relieve itching so should I put some of that on it?
The brand name for the cream is Monistat and the label says it's "miconazole nitrate cream (2%)", just thought I should add some extra information on the cream.
