3 Week Period, Cramped Up Stomach

I'm 20 years old and I've never had a problem with my period before.  However, a couple weeks ago I got my period 2 weeks early and I still have it.  Now is about the time I SHOULD have gotten it.  I have had cramping the entire time, but also my upper stomach has cramped up really bad too.  I've had sharp pains and even woke up one morning because it hurt so bad.  I have been on birth control for probably about 2 years now, although I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.  Also, I had a PAP smear possibly 2 months ago and nothing was wrong, and I haven't had sex in 5 months.  And.. that's about it.

Any suggestions on what might be wrong?

I would say that a period that long is definitely not normal. I think you probably need to see make an appointment to see a doctor. I could be due to your birth control pills and it could be caused by break through bleeding (which is quite normal in taking birth control) and can be normal but it definitely warrants seeing a doc if the bleeding does not stop.
