Abnormal bleeding....help please!!

Hi everyone. So here's my story. I have been trying to get pregnant for approx 8 months. In march I have a cyst on my left ovary rupture it was extremely painful. About 6 days after that happened I started bleeding the first two days was light and barley there then for the next 8 days I bleed on and off, some heavy most light. I would all of a sudden get a little gush of deep red blood then it would taper off and be gone completely for hours sometimes a whole day or night with no blood at all. On the 9th day I went to see a doctor because I never bleed that long ( periods only 4-5 days) and I also wasn't due for my period for 10 days from the first day I started bleeding. Doctor did some blood tests including hcg beta test, the next day the results were negative so she then prescribed me a medication to stop thethe bleeding after 3 days on the pills it stopped. Now today only a week after the bleeding stopped I am bleeding again. The doctor never gave any sort of possible explanation and I have no idea what is happening with my body. Please if anyone has experienced this before could you please give me some insight. I am 29 with two kids and have had my period for 13 years and have never experienced anything like this before. Thanks!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Excessive amount or duration of menstrual flow, at more or less regular intervals is called menorrhagia. Causes of menorrhagia are Hypothyroidism, Endometrial proliferation or hyperplasia like ovarian tumor and polycystic ovarian disease, endometrial polyps and neoplasia, endometriosis, fibroids and uterine sarcomas.

In my opinion you need to get your pelvic examination done from your gynecologist along with investigations like complete blood count, thyroid function tests,PAP smear and ultrasound uterus.Once cause of menorrhagia is identified, treatment can be planned.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
