Can i sue my doctor for keeping me on the depo provera shot for over 10 years?

I was on the depo shot from 16 to 27, when i found out you shouldnt be on for more than five yrs( at that time now two yrs) i got off. Im now 38 i have 3 to 4 menses a year and i have pcos.plus migraines, depression, cramps monthly , and a host of other symptoms. What can i do? I really wanted children and now i probably will never have them.

Anyone can sue, the question is whether you would win. You would probably be in and out of lawyer's offices and courts for a long time, and would need to be able to show that "but for" the doctor prescribing this for ten years you would have been able to have kids, and never had a problem with migraines, depression, cramps. It is possible that the doctor simply prescribing a medication incorrectly could get you some kind of settlement, that would be for your malpractice lawyer to tell you. If you do decide to see a lawyer, look for one who has handled malpractice cases a lot, and get a realistic assessment of whether you have a chance to prevail before you put a lot of money and time into it. Also, be sure there is not a statute-of-limitations issue.

Thank you for that honest advice.
In the meantime, see a fertility specialist. Time's a wastin' and you probably CAN get pregnant if you get a good reproductive endocrinologist on the case. Ask your ob/gyn for a referral.
