Can you become pregnant with an IUD inserted and still be having heavy periods

i am having a problem I have three childern, I am also so very young and had a paragaurd IUD in place after my third child becaude the doctors would not tie my tubes. I enjoy being a mother but I am feeling like I may be pregnant again. My feelings in the past has always been right. I could tell I was pregnant before the pregnant test showed I was.  The thing is  my last period was unusally light and this month it is increasingly heavy to the point I think they may be something wrong because I have never had a period that is this heavy .

Yes, take a test and/or go to the doctor.  We have absolutely no way to tell.

If you are having periods, you are more than likely not pregnant.  Remember, not all periods are the same.  Stress, diet, etc. can all affect length, flow, and symptoms.

Well,

I recommend that you take a test. I posted here a few months ago in a panick, because i had an IUD and the same issues that you are having. Come to find out I was pregnant with not only one but two babies...TWINS....

Now that I am over the initial shock, I feel better. I found out that i am having identical twin girls, which is pretty exciting because I have a 6yr boy and a 15month old boy. i don't really know how this is all going to work out, but it will.

Good luck to you, and I have realized that there is no sure way to be completely at risk for not getting pregnant, if thats what God wants thats what he'll get.

How many of you have taken a hpt on or after your period was due and gotten a negative result -- only to find out a week or so later that you were indeed pg!?!?

No mine were always right if I was late with a period
Now I never tested right on period day or one day later
Have you missed one yet?? Maybe jumping the gun.

Like Cinn, mine have always been right.  They are pretty accurate.  If you missed your period wait a week just to see.  Good Luck to you.

yes, I am waiting.  I took one on Monday, the day my period was due, and it was negative.  So I felt relieved knowing the answer and went about my business.  I thought my period would show up because I'm a 28-day girl right on the money, but now I'm still waiting.  No sign of it.  I did not use first morning pee though, I did it in the afternoon and I'm an H20-holic so it was pretty diluted.  I trust those tests but I was reading through the archives here and got freaked out.  We did the pull-out method twice during my fertile time b/c hubby got overzealous and we didn't have any condoms - I warned him!  So that's where my concern lies.

Oh Those MEN never listen!!!
All you can do is wait  since you did one Id wait til next week now and do a morning urine one.
In case af shows --Usually does after you spend your hard earned money on a hpt!

Very rarely is a period the same every month unless you are on BC or regulated with hormones, so I would wait until you are week late to take a test.  There are just too many independent variables to a cycle.

It could be that you were pregnant but lost it due to the IUD. Perhaps that's why the heavy bleeding. I have heard that can happen, but I'm only speculating. Post again when you find out. Good luck.

Hello,
My name is Holly. I am 20 years old. I am planning on going off the pill (i have been on it for 3 years now) in November. I hope to get pregnant right away so I can give the news to my in-laws and my parents as an xmas gift. Do people usually have problems conceiving the first few months they go off the pill? How does it work? I also want to lose weight before I have a baby. As it is I am not comfortable in my skin. If anyone has suggestions or would like to chat, please email me at butterfly_baybee2005***@**** I will respond to everyone!
Also, will you only conceive on certain days of the month? I can use as much information as I can

I have had an IUD for three years and have always been regular. Last month I missed my period and still havent gotten it. I have taken a couple pregnancy tests but they say negative. Is this normal has anyone else had this probelm or is it still to early to tell if I am pregnant? A lot of places that I have read most women with the IUD found out they were pregnant after six weeks. I have a three year old daughter which I conceived during my period. So could it be just to soon to tell? Please help.

I have had an IUD for a year now and have never been pregnant before, but lately I have gained weight, have constant cravings for salt, can't seem to get out of bed in the morning, have insane mood swings, and the strangest part is for the past couple of days I have been having these horrible dizzy spells. I keep having normal periods and have suffered from depression in the past so I didn't think much about it until the dizzy spells started. I just came off Lexapro (anti-depressant) a few weeks ago so I am guessing these symptoms could be attributed to that, but in the back of my mind I am terrified that I could be pregnant.

I currently have a IUD (Mirena) inserted I've had it now for about 6months. I would like to know if you could become pregnant with this inserted and actually have the baby without any Mental problems and just any problems in general

I too have the Mirena IUD and have had it for 3 years. I think if a pregnancy makes it after the IUD is removed the baby will be fine.

I have not had a regular period since I have had the IUD and am currently experiencing swollen genitals, extreme exhaustion, breast tenderness, and even leaky breasts. I am a mother of two and wonder if the leaky breasts is normal, something just left over from my youngest, he is 3?! I took a pregnancy test and it was negative, but I just don't feel quite right. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi I also have the IUD and have 3 children and I am experiencing pregnancy symptoms also. I so believe that I am I went to the Dr yesterday and they did a pregnancy test by drawing blood cause the home preg test was negative.  Well I'm waiting on the nurse to call me with the results on that test, He also did other test too he said that my thyroid or a brain tumor not cancerous could cause these symptoms. Well I just pray that I am prego instead of anything else wrong with me. Hope I was helpful for you and hope all goes well with you.

What IUD do you have in place? If it's the Mirena (I'm assuming it is) it's likely due to the hormones in the IUD causing them. Mirena is well known to cause symptoms very similar to pregnancy, and if it's still in place then pregnancy would be very unlikely. If a blood test came back negative, you can assume you're not pregnant. This is just because it would have picked up the hormone if what you're feeling really was pregnancy.
