Hi, I'm 15 and I am really  embarrassed to mention this to anyone even a doctor but I really want to know what this is.  I have a large bump on my right vaginal lip, it's redish, and it hurts really bad. I know it's not an STD, I think it might be from shaving to hard, or something else, and I would like to know how to get rid of it? I've only had it for about a day now and it's the first time I've gotten one. Can anyone help?

try putting a warm compress on it and repeat heating the compress for about an hr and see if the swelling goes down...it could be an ingrown hair, but it could be an abscess as well. If it developes a white head do not pop it...go to a doctor or a local planned parenthood (or womens clinic) and have them exam it. If it is a an abscess you don't want whats inside to spread and infect other parts

Hi there! it sounds to me like it might be an abcess. if you shave it could have gotten infected. you should go to your doctor because its likely that you will need antibiotics.

the doctor may also want to excise it and perhaps take biopsies if they are concerned.

What you need to remember is that they have seen this all before. Do not be embarrassed. your sexual health is as important as every other health....ive just been doing a project on sexual health and embarrassment (im a student nurse) and i did it because i want to be a sexual health nurse.

hope thats helped!
