Desperation of pregnancy...

Im now 27 years old and have been trying for a few years to get pregnant. Just isnt happening. Ive went 6-7 months (a few years ago assuming bcs of stress) without a period... and then at one tme I was on my period for 43 days straight, then for a year and  a half I was perfect on my cycle,...now I havent had  a period since 4 1/2 months ago.  do have signs of pregnancy but every test tells me negative.

When I was on for the 43 days I went to the gyno and had test and an ultrasound ran, she said that I do not ovulate properly. Then a year later I started having my periods perfectly. Now Im back to nothing for EVER at a time. I did gain weight in the past 4 months, could this be why?

Im soooo ready to become pregnant and have my own family, its unreal. Depressing. Please help?!

Hi there

Some people get ivf for free where I come from and some people have to pay it is depending if they fall into the following guidelines:

Guidance from NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) recommends that up to three IVF cycles should be available on the NHS if:

•the woman is aged between 23 and 39 at the time of treatment, and
•one or both of you has been diagnosed with a fertility problem (such as having no sperm or both fallopian tubes blocked), or
•you’ve been infertile for at least three years
Implementation of this guidance by PCTs currently varies.
PCTs’ additional criteria
Some PCTs apply additional criteria that affect access to NHS-funded IVF treatment. In a Department of Health (DH) survey of PCTs published in 2009, these criteria included:

•criteria related to children, such as no living children from the current relationship or previous relationships, or no children under a specified age living with the couple
•stopping smoking before being referred for treatment
•the woman’s age to be within a different range than recommended by NICE
•the man’s age to be within a specified range

The medicine/drugs have to be paid for and the waiting list can be quite long but if you were really desperate you might consider moving here for a while to concieve using free nhs IVF treatment . (England)

THanks again... yes Ive been tested for PCCS  and its neg. The gyno told me last I went (bcs I was on my period for 43 days straight at the time) that I just dont ovulate properly, but never told me why or how to fix it! She had me on prometrium, which you take 10 pills every month and the day after your    10th you start your period... then naturally about 2 weeks later I was on again, did that for 6 months and with 2 of 4 months on the rag, I stopped taking them!

Honestly, I just dont have the money for ivf, Id love to do it, but dont have insurance at the time so it makes it hard. THen again, I guess I dont need a baby at the time either. Just tryin to see what other ppl might know or have been through!

Thanks for you help :)

Oh sorry lol just seen your Ivf? thingy  lol

Um...it stands for : In Vetro Fertilisation

This is usually used when the tubes are blocked or you rarely ovulate

They take sperm from the man and freeze it
They take eggs from the woman (sometimes after  a special treatment  of fertility drugs but not always necessary)
the egg is then fertilised outside the womb in the lab and emplanted in the womb afterwards .

Depending how many they implant there could be the chance of twins . You may welcome this or not .

Hope this answers your question

Hi there

Glad to hear your partners little sperms are working their hardest to get to there.
You mentioned a weight issue do you have pcos ?? It is one of the side effects as well as problems concieving.  Maybe you could be tested for this?

Have you had a hsg test to make sure your tubes are clear and working ok??

You may have to go to a fertility clinic for this but if you did find this was indeed the problem you could at least start ivf treatment  .

You didn't say how much you weigh exactly but being overweight can cause problems concieving yes but not sure about the missed periods thing . I know for sure they stop if you lose too much (as in anorexia)

I am trying to lose weight myself and am using the food and weight tracker on this site they are both really good and you can see exactly where you are at and where you are going wrong.

Good luck and let me know if you have any news.

Hi,
Thanks! Yes, his sperm count is more than ok Im positive of this. For years his buddies would say "dont look at my wife, she'll get pregnant" lol or "dont wash your clothes with his, youll end up pregnant" and he has 4 children of his own actually. So, I seriously doubt that its on him.

Im assuming my troubles stem from being over weight. I cant say positively, but assuming. Then Ill see women who are larger than I am pregnant and it breaks my heart.

Whats lvf?

I do feel for You it must be so upsetting when you feel ready to have a baby and so disappointing when it doesn't happen.

It may not all be down to you though as some men have a very low sperm count and it would be like winning the lottery by the chances they have of fertalising an egg. Has your partner had his sperm count tested?? It would be a good idea to rule this out at least.

maybe the way forward is ivf? Are you on the waiting list or is it not available in youe area?

You should definately see the doctor and explain how long you have been trying and they should be sympathetic especially if you can both go together.

My cousin was triyng to concieve for a long time and she finally had a baby after 11 years by Ivf . Her second baby came naturally though .

The same thing happened to my sister in law bur she hadn't been waiting quite so long. It appears that by having a baby it sorts out your problems strangely true.

Good luck with this

Please let us know how you get on good or bad and if you feel down just pop on for a chat
