i got my period 3 times this month

i'm 17 and I am sexually active. This month i got my period 3 times and im really freaked out because my period has always been regular. should i go to the gnyo
or is this normal and my hormones are just out of balance?

Thanks for the advice :)....do i have to tell the gyno that im sexually active because i havent told my mom yet and she'll probably be in the room with me. I mean i know after you've had sex you have to see the gyno but im just too nervous to tell my mom.....

I had the same problem. 2 weeks after my period I started bleeding again. I went to the dr and had an ultrasound because they found some blood in my urine that wasn't related to my period. In the ultrasound they found a cyst on my right ovary and a polyp on my uterus. I am still going through more testing.
You should really go get checked out. It could be your hormones but you want to be safe. Maybe you could be scheduled for an ultrasound to try and find out what the issue is. It doesn't hurt at all. And it isn't frightening.
I would definitely go to the gyno.
