Do I have an infection?

I'm 16 and I haven't been sexually active for almost a year now. In late June, I don't know what I did but something in my body changed. My vagina had this really, really strong odor, like vinegar. Strong enough that I could smell it through my pants and I was so embarrassed to open my legs or walk because of the strong smell. After noticing this strong smell, I also noticed that my discharged was now a very light yellow. The smell had gone away after a month I want to say but now it's back. I have experienced some peeling on the lower part of my vagina where not only does it peel but it also burns. I put a mirror down there and saw that my skin was peeling and that I had peeled, red skin. I thought this was from wiping to hard but now I don't know because it's back even after not wiping as hard. So I've been having this strong vinegar scent, itching, peeling, and burning down there without being sexually active for almost a year and I don't know what's going on. I'm embarrassed to tell my mom or make a doctors appointment but I need to know what's happening. This has gone for too long now. Please help me!
