Is it normal to bleed this much on my 1st period after surgical abortion?

I had a surgical abortion (aspiration) on January 13th, I was 10 weeks the day of the procedure. I bled for 3 weeks and then it stopped. I'm concerned because my first period came on March 1st and I am still bleeding, its a little heavy and I'll pass blood clots here and there. Is this normal? I called the abortion place and the person who answered seemed like she didn't care and gave me a quick "yes it's normal", I feel like it's not. Is the first period supposed to last this long?

So, I do think some women experience this type of prolonged bleeding with their first menstrual cycle.  But this does not mean your doctor shouldn't see you.  Do you have a regular doctor (gp or gynecologist?)?  I know you may feel uncomfortable if they don't know about the abortion but a follow up with them is often a really good idea. Trust me, they don't care.  You wouldn't be the first patient and won't be the last to have undergone an abortion and as it's every woman's prerogative and you just exercised your right to choose, it is not something to fear telling your health care provider.  If it were me, I'd be seen. Did you have your post op 6 week check?  They do recommend that.  It could be left over tissue or hormonal changes.  But it's always smart to get checked out because while other women have it, that's not to say you are just like them.  You know?  hugs

I don't have a specific doctor I always go to, but I plan on going to a general doctor this week if possible. I called the abortion place yesterday and someone else answered, they were more informative than the last person but I still don't feel like its ok to bleed so much, my pad is almost all full of blood. I did go to their follow up around February, it was before I had this problem, they told me I had some blood clots that's it :/ The lady took long to find my uterus (she did a vaginal sonogram), my mother has her uterus backwards and that means I might too, Idk if this has anything to do with the bleeding I have? I didn't know this information until recently that she found out too. Thank you so much for your answer, I hope it's just my hormones and not tissue left :/
