Lichen Sclerosus

I was just diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosus. I have been suffering with redness, irritation and an itchy clitoris for 4 months. I have been to 3 doctors and this last doctor did a biopsy and found this skin disease. I thought I had herpes and still wonder if I do and am getting a Western Bolt blood test to confirm. First 3 blood tests were negative and 4th was equivocal so I need to be sure. Not sure how I got this, I have had 3 bacterial infections since December. Does anyone else reading these posts have this and can you tell me what works for you to keep this under control? Once I started reading about this it really scared me. What itches me the most is my clitoris, I have the redness near my vaginal entrance which feels more sore. Any home remedies that help? Would appreciate any insight. Thank you

Does the steroid cream burn when you apply it to your skin?

I was diagnosed by my gynocologists. A biopsy was performed and results were Lichens. The steroid cream was working eel for about 4 weeks now it is back to being red, sore and tender again. I see patchy white spots on one side and have sharp pains now and then. Going to a vulvar specialist next week, hoping they can help.

Hello,
Lichen sclerosus is a tough skin condition to treat. If the steroid creams are not benefitting then as mentioned earlier you may need topical immune modulating agents which you should get prescribed from a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Please help me. I have been on the steroid cream for my Lichens for 6 weeks. Things were getting better. I would have 4-5 days in a row where things felt about 90% better. Then I would have 1-2 days that were more bothersome. This weekend things got worse. I have burning pain especially on the right side of my vaginal walk. The skin is more red and bumpy again right at the vaginal entrance. I have been using the steroid cream twice a day as instructed. I have not changed anything. Why would it get worse? I am at my wits end with this. Should I stop using the steroid cream? Could it be making it worse? Thank you

Hello, hoping you can help me with some questions. I have been using tge steroid cream for almost two weeks now. I still have a small incision where they did the biopsy so it's hard to tell how red that area is yet. It does feel somewhat better and my clitoris was feeling better , not perfect but better. How long does it take to get back to "normal?" After a few days of feeling pretty good, yesterday it felt more irritated. I don't understand why it would relapse? I have a strange pain on the one side of the vagina , kind of goes into the leg. Are pains line this normal with LS? I also developed a large hemorroids. I have had before but not this large. I read where LS can affect the anal area however the skin there does not appear damaged. Thank you for your help

Thank you for your response.
I asked my doctor about the itchy "C" being from the LS and they said they have not heard of it affecting that area, usually just the vagina entrance. I was also tested twice for other STD's and those test were negative.
I tried some of the steroid cream there and it did not help. Have you heard that LS can affect that area? If it is from LS, what could I use to help get rid of this itch? I still am concerned it could be herpes there even though no lesions or blisters. I swear I see two small pimple like spots that appear on the tip of it when it is itching me but they are there sometimes once or twice a day and sometimes not at all which from what I read is not common for herpes. I had thought the itch was from the BV but that is gone and I still have the itch. Do you have any thoughts as to if there could still be some sort of infection just in my clitoris and how could that be tested? What about an allergy? For 3 months now just wearing white cotton undies, no soap to cleanse, just warm water and clear and free laundry detergent.
Thank you for your help.

Hello,
If the biopsy reports are confirming it as lichen sclerosus then it is due to lichen sclerosus only.

Corticosteroid ointments or creams are commonly prescribed for lichen sclerosus. You can get them prescribed. If corticosteroid treatment doesn't work or if months of corticosteroid therapy are needed then you may need immune modulating agents like Elidel.
