Long Menstrual cycles

I'm a 31 year old mother of 4 boys ages 13 11 8 & 3. My menstrual cycle has never been the typical "28 day cycle". Even birth control made it worse at times. I decided last year in October to get off birth control because I didn't like the effects it had on my body. Once off the birth control I didn't have a menstrual cycle until March. Since then my cycle has lasted for two weeks at a time sometimes more. This month I've been on it for 30 days. And heavy! I've been to the Doctor, been tested and tested again, even had an ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries all clear. Can some body please tell me why am I having these long menstrual cycles?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
You seem to be having the symptoms of metrorrhagia(heavy periods). Various factors causing it are endometriosis, ectopic pregnancy, hormone imbalance, endometrial hyperplasia, polyps, use of IUD’s and depo shots, sexually transmitted diseases,PCOS and benign and malignant pathologies of the uterus.
I would suggest you to consult a gynecologist and get a pelvic examination, hormone panel, ultrasound and swab culture done to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment depends on the confirmation of diagnosis.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
