Mirena IUD pregnancy symptoms

Hi guys!  I had a mirena inserted in march 06, i bleed for 2mths straight and then stopped, and got a normal period a month later.  I am 3weeks over due for my period, im always tired, frequent urination, weight gain (eating heaps)...and feeling sick like i want to vomit.  I have also had problems with my bowels (which is common in my pregnancies).  I have three children already oldest is 3 and the young 8mths.  I have got pregnant on the pill, the implant (in the arm)...and im scared im pregnant again.  I had a home preg test which came up neg, then a week later it came up lightly positive.  Just to make sure i took another one three days later and it came up neg.....what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Rosalind

I'm really sorry to hear that you had to go through what you did but really glad you caught it in time before your health was seriously jeopardised.  My doctor did tell me that on the rare chance that I did fall pregnant with a Mirena it would most likely be an ectopic pregnancy and that i would not be able to carry the baby to term.  I wish you a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing your story as it goes to show that it IS possible, however slim the chances and allows the rest of us to be especially careful and make sure we double, triple check to make sure we aren't pregnant.  Your post could possibly save someone's life because if they do fall pregnant, at least they will know how critical it is that they get the help and attention they need. Thank you again.

Thank you to all those who have posted above. I have had some of the symptoms (nauseau, moodiness, cravings, tiredness) and was wondering if I was pregnant.  My doc has since told me it's nearly impossible but I had it removed yesterday anyway as we are now looking to start a family.  I hope the symptoms will taper off as the residual effects of Mirena slowly dissipate. This is the second Mirena I've used and i've never had any side effects, until now.  I must say it has mostly been worry-free and easy in that my periods stopped altogether so that for the last 6 years, i've not had my period at all.  However I am glad i came across this as i will re-consider before using Mirena again given so many negative side effects are associated.

I too am having the same thing. I have had my mirena since Nov 2009. The past couple weeks I have had the same symptoms. Nausea, headaches, backaches, cramping, cravings, dizziness, severe hunger pains, bigger breasts, and fatigue. Oh and MAJOR mood swings. I spent 2 hours this morning crying my eyes out and dont' know why. I haven't cried in a long time, and all of a sudden I can't stop. I want to know if any previous postees have confirmed they were pregnant?? I don't know what to do! I know it is possible, but at the same time. I do NOT want anymore children. After the last surprise (4th child), I really don't want, nor need anymore children. I am scared as well. I don't want to get a pregnancy test, but I am so fertile anyway, that I am afraid of the results. I had my first 3 children in 2 years, 2 months, and 4 days. Thought I was done, got divorced and started seeing my husband, and then found out I was pregnant (while on oral birth control). Had her and she is now
2 1/2 years old. I got the mirena bc I wasn't quite ready to tie off the tubes. At the same time am not wanting to have another baby and it seemed like the best way to go, since I'm not good with oral birth control. Someone please help!

Hi yes you could be everybody on here says they have had negative  pregnancy tests the mirena lowers your HCG level thats why all the pregnancy tests show up negative. I also have the mirena put in and i am going tuesday to have it removed i went to check my strings this evening and they are GONE i can feel my cervix uteris whatever they put it in and i can feel the mirena inside it but the strings are completly gone:( and i also have had all the pregnancy symptoms and i know everyone including me wants some answers from somebody that has went through the process of finding out for sure if you are pregnant so if you really want to know go to your OBGYN and have them do a blood test and have them do a ultrasound right there in the office so you can see yourself that are isn't a baby in there because that is what i am going to do this tuesday i also have two children and i have had my mirena in since 2009 i hope this helped you ladies!!!
