Remember though that a tracking app is strictly averaging numbers and not testing hormones or anything specific so therefore, is just a guess about when you are ovulating.  The app is very helpful though for general information.

You can try home ovulation kits that you go to the bathroom on so that they measure hormonal levels to get a more specific idea of when you ovulate.  I found them to be finicky though when I tried using them.  good luck

So there's a couple different things you mentioned here. Your period and when you're ovulating. Many women don't know when they ovulate because they don't know the signs of ovulation, nor do they track their cycles. Start with what specialmom said and begin tracking your menstrual cycles. There's a great tracking app you can use from this (Medhelp.org) website where you can input data each day about how you feel, your weight, basal body temp, period symptoms, intercourse, etc. USE IT! It's incredibly resourceful and they also have an app call My Cycles that you can use on a smartphone or tablet that will take the data about your periods and calculate when your ovulation week is. However, it should be noted that you are only ovulating between 12-24 hours, so if you're trying to get pregnant, it's better to have sex the days leading up to ovulation. Also, start noticing the signs of ovulation. Some include sore breasts and thick egg-white-like discharge.

That is very tricky.   Most women guess at their ovulation/fertile window.  Do you track your days?  I'd do that over the course of maybe three or four cycles to see if there is an average (or near average) amount of days that maybe seem irregular but have more of a pattern to it than you think.  Otherwise, you have to assume you are fertile from cycle day 10 on until you get your period if you are trying to conceive (have sex every other day).  good luck
