Pregnancy on Pill then Infertility....

I'm SO perplexed!

When I was 24 I got pregnant on while on the pill.  I was shocked and scared and ultimately had it terminated.  (Something I will always regret sadly).  Now I am 44 and have never been able to get pregnant since.  After the pregnancy I discontinued using the pill altogether and have not used it since.  I've been through ALL the fertility treatments and tests, and they have never been able to pinpoint a problem, yet month after month for over a decade now I have not been able to sustain a pregnancy.  I say sustain because I am so sure that my body is trying to get pregnant, but for whatever reason it is not sticking.  I have never been able to get a positive pregnancy test since.

I'm wondering, do you think there is a possibility that the regulation of my hormones by the pill may have had something to do with my ability to get pregnant that one time?  There has GOT to be an explanation as to why I was able to get pregnant once and then never again...  It just doesn't make sense.

I appreciate your feedback.
Thank you.

THank you for the suggestion.  I'm not sure if I had an MRI done or not, but I have had a battery of tests done.  I have already gone through IVF twice without success.  For my age I am still very regular in my cycles and am ovulating regularly.  My IVF doctor was quite pleased.  I'll check into the Asherman's Syndrone as you suggested though.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback.  No, I don't think the pill caused infertility.  In fact, my suspicion is that the pill kept my cycle regulated which aided in pregnancy.  In all the tests I have had done the only thing they have been able to find is that one of my hormones drops a bit after ovulation and my thought was that the pill itself might have been artificially balancing my hormones.  ???  I don't know.  I'm just reaching for straws here because all other tests show that I am very regular and normal.  It just isn't making any sense.  :(

You might have an MRI of your uterus (not just an ultrasound) to check for Asherman's Syndrome (scar tissue in the uterus).  (You say you have been through all the tests, but MRIs are not always done.)

At 44, your best bet is to get to a reproductive endocrinologist right away and talk about IVF or other options.

It could really be anything. I mean some women just have unexplained infertility. I know you say you got pregnant once before, but it could still happen with unxplained infertilty. I haven't really heard of anything about the pill causing infertility. Are you sure you are ovulating each month? I'm sorry you are going through a rough time with this, hopefully you can get some answers soon.
