Pregnant or Stress symptoms?

My boyfriend and I have had unprotected sex.  I have been feeling weird recently and I don't know how to explain it.  My period was supposed to start on the First of August, now it is August 17th.  I have extremelyyyy irregular periods to begin with so I can never tell.  I haven't had my period yet so far so I started to get a little worried since we were stupid and had unprotected sex.  The week before my period was supposed to start I was stressed beyond belief with personal problems and with an audit we had at our office at work.  It was a week of constant stress and worry.  I have been told stress can also have something to do with throwing your period off wack.  On top of that, the week after my period was SUPPOSED to start, I started on Birth control after talkign to my doctor on the 9th :\  Now my breast are soar and I still feel weird.  I also have a lot more discharge than normal and I don't know if all this could be related to pregancy possibly or just me stressing over possibly being pregnant?  Now I am worried because I started on birth control without being 100% sure I WASN'T pregnant...

Any adivce? :(

Well I got my period today, 20 days late XD but I guess that rules out pregnancy... And it's been one miserable period at that -_-  first day of it and the cramps have been so terrible, even midol (which usually works wonders) hasn't been able to help with the pain... Oh well, female pains right?

Makes two of us that have done that before.  It's so easy to freak out when there's a possibility and then our bodies seem to be presenting the symptoms, and even though we know deep down it'd be too early, it's all, "AHHH!"  Hope things work out!

ok! :)

Good to know, and I will definitely look into the test now.  I don't have really any symptoms either.  I have freaked myself out before with pregnancy and then I wasn't.

Well, while you're on the active pills (first three weeks of the pack), you're not going to bleed.  If you have any bleeding while on that, it's known as breakthrough bleeding and generally occurs for two reasons: 1) you skipped a pill (most common) or 2) you need a different birth control.

Also worth mentioning: I notice I take about three days of being on the placebo pills (last seven pills; I've also heard them called "sugar pills") to start my period.

And yeah, you'd definitely be far enough along you'd be able to check with an HPT and get accurate results.

It was about 5 weeks ago that we did.  I do think just getting tested would relieve a lot of the stress I have been having about it!  Does birth control delay it as well?

Stress could have delayed the period if you were as highly stressed as you say, and then you started the birth control before it ever came, so this is likely now what is keeping your period from coming.  How long ago did you and your boyfriend have the unprotected sex?  If it's been over 2 weeks, you could try an HPT though a blood test from the doctor would tell you more clearly.  You can usually get it ordered and taken one day and have it back the next (or by Monday if you have it taken on a Friday and don't get it done at a lab that's open on weekends).

You should take an hpt and see what it says and stop the birth control until you are completely sure just stick with condoms stress could be causing your period to be late but because you did have unprotected sex you should test just to be sure
