Spotting Instead of Period on Nuvaring

This is my first time using birth control (I'm 25) and before birth control, my periods came like clockwork every 28 days and had a heavier flow for 6 days (super tampons on the first few days, then regular the last few). A month ago, I decided to start NuvaRing to put mine, and my boyfriend's, minds at ease.

This past Sunday I took the ring out to start my free-week, but as of today (Saturday), my period still hasn't started. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I had a tiny bit of blood and since yesterday (Friday) there hasn't been anything. I'm supposed to put the next NuvaRing tomorrow for my next cycle, but debating whether I should until I actually start a period. I know my body has to go through a lot of changes with birth control, especially since it's my first time, but with as much unprotected sex my boyfriend and I have had since I started NuvaRing, I'm skeptical to continue. I've put a call into my healthcare provider, but have yet to hear back - looking for some advice or experience from anybody else!!
