External Yeast

Hi,

So, four months ago I thought I had the classic symptoms of a YI.  Went to the dr and she took a culture and at the same time gave me a 150mg of Fluconazole.  I took the pill and felt better, a week later found out my culture for yeast came back negative.  I was still feeling irritated and raw externally especially during and after sex.

I still wasn't getting better so I went to the dr two weeks ago and she did a culture to check me for EVERYTHING.  During her examination she could see where I was red and irritated externally.  I even had small cuts on my perenium after sex.  So painful.  On Fri I found out my culture came back positive for yeast.  So, she prescribed me 3 doses for 150mg of Fluconazole that I need to take every other day for three days.  I've already taken the first two doses and I still don't feel better.  How long does it take to start feeling some relief?  I still have that raw and irritated feeling.  Never thought I'd have an external YI.

Thanks!

It is possible that it could be bacterial vaginosis. Did she test you for that?

Also sustain from sex for at least a week starting the meds and give the cream to your boyfriend to put on his penis to make sure he isnt giving it back to you.

I just want to post an update.  So, finally, after three does of 150mg Fluconazole (one pill taken every other day for three days) I'm free of yeast.  I started feeling better one week after I took my last pill.  No rawness, no itching, no cuts.  I can finally have my life back.

I hope you get some relief soon.  Just to recap, when I first has symptoms and my dr took a culture it came back negative.  I went back four months later and saw the nurse practitioner and she took two cultures (external and internal).  She swabbed me very thoroughly and checked me for EVERYTHING.  Best of luck.

I also have the same symptoms and they have not been able to find out a cause.  But one day it feel ok and the next I am crawling up a wall with itching and when I urnate the burning brings tears to my eyes it hurts so bad.  I am seeing this online more and more during my search for a cure on this so I am wondering if this is something new and the doctors are not looking for NEW they are looking at what they already know about....one thing is I wish they would find out soon.  I will let you know if I find out any more on this subject.
