Unusually long period lasting all month

I am 36 years old and have had my period like clockwork.  Last month I had my period and not even two weeks later had another one.  This month I had a period and stopped bleeding after a few days and thought I was done only to come home from work a couple of days later to find I had bled through.  I didn't bleed anymore until a day or two after that and have not stopped bleeding since.  I have pretty well been on my period for this entire month.  It started out light and is now very heavy with a lot of clotting.  At first there was no cramping even with the heavy bleeding and clotting.  But now I have been having terrible low back pain and cramps.  I am not sure if I should be worried or if this is just premenopuase kicking in.  I have never bled for a long period of time like this before.  If it doesn't stop soon, I am not sure what to do.  I am praying there is nothing really bad going on as I don't have insurance so it is pretty hard to get seen by a doctor.  Any advice???

I been having a problems too!  I had my 2nd son 3 years ago now even after the kids, same for me tho had it on time my hole life, and lasted only 3 days.. once a month. But for me  in the last year I had the Mirena put in, on it for 4 months then had dr take it out, I had spotting some times a lot, and some times light but it was almost everyday and a week in between all this mess, I would have I guess a full period and that lasted a week to 8 days wth!...And my skin looked so bad blister like pimples , The nurse said its stress NO! I said I never broke out like this. I was just the 1 or 2 during my period.. I never had acne.
Needless to say.. my dr said lets try the pill I have  never took any kind of  pill  or any form of birth control  mind you, this is all new to me, at 36years old...
I am on my 2nd month of the pill and no breakouts tg! but I had got one light period only 8 days ago and now I got a light one again ... I am giving this only till the end of the 3 rd month ! This is why I never tried pills or any other cause I never trusted it, I heard some bad story's and then some good ...  were the ppl telling me the good ones full of bull or what !  But when I read yours I'm now unsure maybe that's what is going on w me menopause the starting point !  I see you didn't post any birthcontrol use during this or previous use , I was wondering if this cause it to get messed up and made it all wrong since?
But for gyno's there are places u can go to at low cost or Just set up payment plans when u get the bill, Its worth it in the hall.
