Vaginal symptoms

I had sex for the first time about a month ago and have noticed that since then it seems to almost hurt when I am being fingered. I did bleed a lot which I did not think was unusual because I had not been using tampons since I have been on birth control for years and do not get a period. A few days ago I was experiencing some vaginal itching but wouldn't really say it's consistent or severe. I have a discharge which is kind of thicker and clear to  white in color  but would say it looks like a "cottage cheese" discharge associated with yeast infections. I often get a clear or white discharge anyway. I do notice some un pleasent odor as well. What could this be????

Does this seem like its more likely to be a yeast infection rather than bacterial vaginitis? what are the best ways to tell without seeing a doctor?

I meant to say say it doesn't look like a "cottage cheese" discharge. is it still common to get one and not have that discharge?

you probably just have a yeast infection. if they go untreated they can cause vaginal irritation when having sex and cause bleeding. i usually go to the doctor when i get them and get stronger medications but you can also use over the counter medication like monistat.
