What does it mean to have a itchy vagina hood?

Am 21 and a virgin! For the past year or so my vagina keeps itching at the hood ( above the clitoris).

Do you have discharge?  Any bumps?  It could be yeast overgrowth affecting that area and some people get dermatitis of unknown origin there as well.  Cortaid or something over the counter like that helps with that if that is the case.  But you know, we can't know for sure what is going on.  Best to see your doc.  PS:  if you recently shaved the area, that can get itchy as hair grows back.  good luck
