What is happening

My last cycle began on January 18th. I have always started on time (every 28 days) and I've always ended on time. I am not on Birth control and my diet has not changed. I got my period 14 days after my last cycle (or so I thought it was my period). This was way to soon. The blood was so light that it never even soiled a pad. I only saw it when I went to the restroom. This began on February 1st, and it ended on the 3rd. On the 1st it was a splotch of blood which is why I thought it was a period. By the time I went to the restroom again, it lighted up a great deal. The blood was a dark brown (old blood). Is this a period, is it implantation bleeding, midcycle bleeding, breakthrough bleeding, or is this just stress? I did test for pregnancy, but the test was negative. Was it too soon to test. Should I try another this week?  I am 25, I am married. I do work full time. But I don't think things are so stressful that they would alter my periods. I have noticed some slight cramping that comes and goes. It's stopped now though. It was a light cramping. Normally when I cramp I feel like I'm going to over kill. But these cramp never even required Tylonol. I'm due for my next period on Saturday the 14th. I'm starting to feel light cramping again which is making me think that It was not pregnancy related.

The problem is, I've heard of these types of episodes, and women really were pregnant and still getting their regular periods. I've eliminated breakthrough bleeding because I'm not taking any oral contaceptives. Midcycle bleeding is possible, however I've never had that happen before. I've almost eliminated stress as well because again, this was no period, it was just light bleeding for a couple of days.

What do you make of this. Please help.

Thanks.

Hmm...I would take another pregnancy test in like a week.  See if your period comes.

If you can't wait, or your questions aren't answered by then, I'd see a doc.  Or at least call an OBGYN/Nurse would may be able to answer your question.
