Why my HPT was YES then NO a week later. No bleeding if was miscarriage

"hello missed my cycle on the 10/8 took a HPT on 10/12 it was Neg. Then had sex on 15th then on 16 had dark brown spotting for 2 days but not enough to fill a mini pad on either day. I spotted for that moment again on 26th. october 2017. then took First Reponse Digital HPT it was YES+ on the 31st. On the 5th, i felt sore in my lower abdomen area sharp pain when i got out of bed but no bleeding but went away that night. when i went to doctors on Nove 8th. they couldnt find in my uterus and their pee test was neg. faint yes (but doc said they usually say neg. for that result). They mention a possible ectopic or too early to see. But how did First Response get it? But they sent for blood work to test my HCG level. Why is that? If they think it is neg. I am trying to figure out why my test was clear pos. then neg. the next week. I had no constant pains and bleeding in between that timing. Anybody have a possible answer."

Sorry it is a confusing time.  So, they are suspecting that if you were pregnant, that there is an issue.  I'm so sorry about that.  The HCG level checks will confirm it. If you have a specific number and go back and it is decreasing, they know you were pregnant but are losing the baby.  OR they can then begin watching for an ectopic as something is going on that tips them off that there is an issue.  Ectopic pregnancies are life threatening so important to determine.  Before the age of early detection home pregnancy tests, women never even knew they were pregnant and they'd just call it a weird month or period.  Nowadays, women have chemical pregnancies that cause great confusion.  So, they are being sure that they aren't missing something (as in this is all for nothing and you are indeed pregnant with HCG growing slower than what they normally see), that you are miscarrying, that you were never pregnant (if the hcg level comes back completely negative), or if you are having an ectopic pregnancy.

I'm sure it is all very stressful.  Let us know what happens, okay?  hugs
