Dark discharge related to endometriosis?

Hi!  I am 18 years old and I have had symptoms of endometriosis, but it has not been confirmed that I have it yet.  I have chronic abdominal pain, painful periods, painful intercourse, and lately, very dark brown-black thick discharge during my normal periods.  My periods are always regular since I have started birth control.  Does anyone know if this could be related to endometriosis?  Or is this something different?  I would really appreciate some help!

Thanks
Katrina

I agree with slimjr. You can't confirm endometriosis without a laparoscopy, which is a rather non-invasive surgery. I was diagnosed via a laparoscopy when I was 17.  As far as your symptoms, you can have painful periods without having endometriosis. Painful intercourse could also be related to having a friable cervix, which doesn't have anything to do with endometriosis and is fairly common.  Those with a friable cervix may even bleed after intercourse.  I wouldn't worry too much about the brownish discharge before your period as it may be just spotting.  Although there may be a common explanation for your symptoms, if you don't feel comfortable with a diagnosis always seek a second opinon and let them know your concerns.  Good luck!
