infertility

My husband and i have been trying to have sex for a few months now but no luck. Infertility does run in my family so i'm wondering if i may be infertile. What kind of tests are there to check fertility?

Hi there

My husband and i have been trying for 13 years and finally was able to see a fertility clinic to check both of us out. Generally they will check the Male sperm and for the women to see if ovaries etc are okay, but don't give up we have just started our 1st IVF treatment and will find out tomorrow if im Pregnant.

The doctors found that my husband had a low sperm count but western medicines today work miracles. Hopefully you are able to conceive naturally but IVF would be the next option.
Good Luck

It can take a healthy couple up to 1 year to concieve.  The vast majority of dr's will not do any testing until after that (unless over 35, then it's 6 months).  The first thing you can is to make sure you are aware of your most fertile days.  A few ways are to chart your BBT (basal body temp), use Ovulation Prediction Kits, or monitor your cervcial fluid.  A great book to pick up is Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  The author goes through all of these charting options.
