period after 2 years of nothing. now it wont stop.

No period for almost 2 years, then all the sudden boom...here it is and its not slowing down! I'll try to put down as much as possible. 34 years old. Yes I've been to the doctor, no I'm not experiencing menopause. according to blood tests I am most likely a few years away. My mom and sister both went through menopause at an early age. Not sexually active going on 3 years now. My dr. Is perplexed as to the reason why, my recent weight gain so far is the main culpret. I'm not sold on that because throughout my life my weight has fluctuated and I've literally never missed periods aside from my pregnancies. Wonder if anyone has had this happen to them. I've spent $60 on tampons and pads and I'm broke and ready to lose my mind with this heavy period that has no end in sight. Help!

Thanks for your reply. I did have an ultrasound, she said that everything looked normal aside from my uterus being larger than normal, which she attributed to my having 3 pregnancies. PCOS was never brought up as a possibility. I'm guessing that the ultrasound didn't point in that direction.

You definately need to get a diagnosis. No period, with no explanation, for 2 years should have prompted your doctor to look for things such as PCOS, and this is commonly linked to weight gain and body hair. (Not necessarily though, my mother had it badly and was always very skinny and not hairy!)

Have you had any ultrasounds?
