Thank you! I went to the emergency room the night after this post and it turns out that I was having premature labor. The nurse gave me a shot to stop the contractions and I am feeling a lot better now.
Hello,
As your body prepares for birth, your cervix will begin to soften, open (dilate) and thin (efface). This happens because the baby's head drops down into the pelvis, it pushes against the cervix and causes the cervix to relax, open and thin out, or efface. You may be having start of labor pains. If the contractions become regular or more frequent (one every 10-12 minutes for at least an hour) they may be premature labor contractions which can cause the cervix to open. It is important to contact your gynaec immediately.
