Hello,
Ovulation is the release of a single, mature egg from a follicle that developed in the ovary. It usually occurs regularly, around day 14 of a 28-day menstrual cycle. Once released, the egg is capable of being fertilized for 12 to 48 hours before it begins to disintegrate.

hi thanks for your reply. i'm not sure when ovulation occurred or really how to tell when it occurred as i don't really know what ovulation is so i'm still unsure when to do a urine test. i really don't want to go to my doctor unless really necessary as i don't think there really is much chance of pregnancy. i have no idea what HCG levels are. the plan is to carry out a urine test on the 15th of march (21 days from intercourse) and take it from there. i have two urine pregnancy tests. should i take these on the same day or some days apart?
Hello,
If you have started with the periods then chances of pregnancy are less. To confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test. Also then I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. If it comes negative then other causes of delayed periods should be explored.
